Pasta Salad

This week I made a delicious pasta salad. I love cooking and after a long hiatus of some sort, I'm now able to do one of the things I love the most.

Most of my delight comes from others enjoying my work.

I love the thank you text and t from friends of friends for a plate. Maybe I should become a caterer. Hmmmm ;-)

I used Linguini noodles, shrimp, scallops and crab sauteed with butter, white wine, and chicken broth, tossed in a four cheese alfredo sauce, and topped with diced tomatoes, parsley, and  grated parmesan cheese. Voila! an easy dish with a impressively complicated feel.

This is the first post to one of the many dishes I make. I will continue to share them but will post recipes according to response.

Until next time!

Tia Mowry- Hardrict Says She Cried When She Big Chopped

Although daring for a black celebrity actress to do so, Tia Mowry made the decision to release the dragon and cut her lengthy locks!

We as people on the outside looking in tend not to like change but who could be mad at this adorable pixie cut?

When asked on the red carpet why?  She responded,

"I feel like with hair, comes a lot of experiences and emotion, and I needed to just let things go and get rid of a lot of things."

We hear you sista. How many of us have  emotional or even bad experiences with our hair and the people that view us? It can be nerve wrecking sometimes.

While some of us live fast and free with our big chop decisions, The Game starlet admits she cried.

"... hair was all over the floor. I was like, ‘Oh My God’ and I started to cry."

Mowry told US Weekly,

"I cried! I’m just going to be honest with you, I definitely cried,”

But woes don't last for ever. She reminds us how easy it is to style and go, only taking 3 minutes!

“A lot of people ask me, ‘What advice would you give to women who want to chop it off?’ I said, ‘Don't think about it because if you do you won’t do it.’ But it’s very liberating... I am so happy that I decided to cut my hair."

Well if you like it we love it!  Even though this beauty doesn't wear her hair curly all the time we still know and share pride and struggle.

“I get out of the shower, put some conditioner in it, and it’s just ‘let’s go’ and I love that! I think it’s very very important to find products that allow us to be able to have more time to do things like that.”

So what's next Tia, maybe a product line?

Whatever it is we wish you luck in your journey.

Braid Craze

Solange Knoulwes braided up do

Braids ar still as stylish as they were "Back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again." Remember that?!

Here are some pictures of my favorite protective stlye.

Note: If you have thinning sides and think synthetic braids will be too much for your weakened strands, try braiding sectioned tresses together before attaching synthetic hair, to create a stronger base. Then add synthetic hair. This will relieve stress off your scalp and protect weak tresses!

Are You Faking Natural?

Are Faking Natural? In this Tile my intention is not to offend anyone, This subject is revisited often between groups. To some its a simple question to some others its also a statement. Its no secret that a great deal of women go natural for growth opportunity. Nothing wrong with that. Whatever your reason is, were glad your here. The popular question is, Do you consider someone really natural if they continuously wear their natural hair straightened?  The debate always brings up reasonable argument, "Whats so natural about straightened hair?" Its not your hair's natural state.
Us naturals are a proud group of people.Yes its cool to switch it up but to constantly wear your hair in a processed state whether it be chemical or heat induced is technically not natural. This is my opinion and a few others. What are your opinions on the subject? Weigh in inside the comment box.

Alina D. "We want you to embrace your natural state or stop screaming "I'm natural! Represent that's all."

Rihanna Called A N***aB***h In Fashion

Believe this because it is true, ignorance spreads across all Continents. On Monday, our beloved Barbadian rock star, bite a chunk out of the editor of Fashion magazine Dutch, which published an article referring to RiRi as a Niggabitch, combining the two word together into a new formed slag to disrespect black women on a greater level. But that wasn't Dutch magazine's intention. They were actually trying to give her props :-/

Here's what Dutch Magazine Published:

She (Rihanna) has street cred, she has a ghetto ass and she has a golden throat. Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate n***abitch and she displays that gladly — for her that means what’s on can come off. If that means she’ll be on stage half naked, then so be it. But Dutch winters aren’t like Jamaican [ed. note: Rihanna is actually Barbadian, not Jamaican] ones, so pick a clothing style in which your daughter can resist minus ten [temperatures]. No to the big sunglasses and the pornheels, and yes to the tiger print, pink 'shizzle,' and everything that glitters. Now let’s hope she won’t beat anybody up at daycare.

Hours after the translation of the article went viral Jackie apologized via Myspace saying Dutch "meant no harm — the title of the article was intended as a joke — it was a bad joke, to say the least." she then apologized.

More from the editor:

Furthermore I hope that you all believe there was absolutely no racist motive behind the choice of words. It was stupid, it was naive to think that this was an acceptable form of slang — you hear it all the time on tv and radio, then your idea of what is normal apparently shifts — but it was especially misguided: there was no malice behind it. We make our magazine with love, energy and enthusiasm, and it can sometimes happen that someone is out of line. And then you can only do one thing: apologize. And hope that others wish to accept it. From the bottom of my heart I say it again: we never intended to offend anyone. And I mean that.

Wow right. We’ll Rihanna wasn't going to take that sitting down whether the intention was to please her image or not.

On Twitter Rihanna takes a stand to Jackie Eva Hoeke Editor-in-Chief

"I hope u can read English," she said to Jackie Eva Hoeke Editor-in-Chief  "because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print!"

Here's where she smack her with common sense,

"There are 1000's of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That's your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past!"

Rihanna then finishes her Mortal Combat style,

"You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense, Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you ...[BLEEP] YOU!!!"

There you go Rihanna Good girl gone Bad.  Just proves that money doesn’t change how people see you only how they treat you.

Take Care

Natural remedies aren't only good for our hair but also our bodies too. This winter instead of overloading your bodies with cold medicines or synthetic substances try a couple of these all natural remedies first.

Zinc-  is used for treatment and prevention of the common cold. It's  also used to boost the immune system and preventing lower respiratory infections. Take zinc on a daily basis to build up your system.

Water- Drink plenty of water to hydrate and purge your system. OJ used to be the go to fluid but water is better excluding sugars and additives. Instead of drying up a stuffy a stuffy with antihistamines, drink water to thin mucus, aiding your body in expelling the virus naturally. Soup and teas also hydrate.

Herbs- Antimicrobial herbs like eucalyptus, thyme, rosemary or peppermint leaves added to boiled water can relieve you from that stuffy nose quicker than you think. Use the essential oils of these herbs by adding a few drops to steaming water, cover your head with a towel at a comfortable distance above the  water inhale gently. Inhale through nose if you have nasal congestion and mouth if you have chest congestion.

Garlic-  is a powerful natural antibiotic. Garlic is rich in antioxidants, which help destroy damaging free radical in your body. It is used to clear and  boost the immune system. even more excellent, bacteria in your body does not evolve resistance to the garlic as they do to many pharmaceutical antibiotics.

Cream of tarter- If you feel like your dragging and your system can use a good detox with Cream or Tarter. Mix 2 tbsp of Cream or Tarter with 8 oz (or more) of water and drink to cleanse system. You can even use the Castor oil in the cabinet meant for your hair. Remember that Diuretics pull water from the body to work so drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration

Raw Honey-  helps to dissolve mucus, it also fights the infection in nasal passage with its natural antibiotic composition. Also grab honey to soothe a sore throat cause for post nasal drip. Do not give Honey to infants infants or toddlers their digestive systems are not yet ready for some to process certain types of bacteria found in honey.

All these natural substances have a range of properties that help your body become a natural powerhouse against bodily depression. Try them, do your research it will pay off :-)

If your like me and suffer from sinus infections you could use this method to recover faster.
At least twice a day mix together and consume

1 cup of Green tea
2 tbsp. of  Raw honey
1 clove fresh Garlic
2 tbsp.  Apple cider vinegar

Have a healthy body mind and of course hair! until next time,

I try to not make my hair the focus ...

I try to not make my hair the focus of my life. But when I'm up at two in the morning assessing  heat damage I have to think "What is it all for?" A lot of people are jumping on the Natural hair bandwagon. Is it a phase, a fade, or a lifestyle? Is it for the attention, money, or is it in believing "This is how God made me." If it wasn't for relaxer this is all you would see Nappy, Kinky, Curly, Coily, whatever you choose to call are hair . I think that WE have lost are focus once again. There are so many things that bother me about US. Instead of worrying about something that grows out of our head naturally, lets focus on how we grow as people and solve problem. I see a lot of selfishness and carefree distorted outlooks. I don't want to be one of those people who thinks too much about something as simple as hair. Next event RB has I will be donating to a cause for are children, are sisters, or our mother land. As our hair grows strong we should grow stronger. One Community, One Heart, One Love.
