This "Relaxer" went wrong on so many levels. Does anyone know what the oil sheen was for? I'm sorry but LOL! 

A Man's Perspective: Women's Natural Hair

Hey everyone, Natural Bombshell here with another interview. This time we get into the focus of What Men Think. Honestly ladies we can talk about ourselves all day long but a percentage of what we do to ourselves has a little to do with them. It’s healthy to have some insight on the ones who love looking at us because you know we love to keep them looking *wink*.

I take you into the beautiful mind of Michael Jean, he is an educated college grad and entrepreneur from Boston, Massachusetts. Even though I’m used to Cole being hilarious and lighthearted, he kicked it with me on a serious real talk tip about this subject, giving us his honest perspective on what Men are thinking and feeling about our cosmetic choices.

1.) How do you feel about women who rock weaves, wigs, or extensions?

I can go on for hours on that question but I’m going to K.I.S.S. as possible. I feel that women who wear weaves, wigs. etc. are self conscience about how they look and are desperately trying to be accepted by society. In other words, I don't see how a person can "keep it real" with others when they are being fake with themselves. False advertisement. I'm going to stop there.

2.) As long as your lady looks good does it matter?

It does matter. I think she would look better without it. 

3.) Does the infamous head scarf bother you when your girl wears it to bed? 

The scarf does not bother me. I understand the purpose of it. No issues there.

4.) Natural Hair (coily, curly, kinky) vs. Straightened hair. What’s you’re preference?

I prefer natural 

5.) Would you support your significant others choice to go Natural?

Yes, I would support her if she decided to go natural.


6.) You chose dreads as a hair choice, was that for style or culture?

It was for style. I am not attached to it.

7.) Real talk, what do you and your boys say about chicks that choose not to chemically straighten their hair? 

We appreciate women who do not chemically straighten their hair. So if anything, we usually compliment them.

8.) Long hair ugly girl or Short hair pretty girl? 

Short hair pretty girl.


9.) What are you working on these days? 

  I am working on a few projects. I am a photographer with Beyond Lenz Images. (1 of 3 COFOUNDERS) I am also a videographer with 86925 Productions and Superior Pictures (CEO).
I'm Planning on shooting my first short film called LIE BE TOLD in the Spring with hopes that it will bring in potential investors to fund my feature project called NORTHERN HOSTILITY.

One more question - Ok, we can understand weaves/wigs being false advertisement but what about every now and then or just because?

Why wear a weave or a wig?

Why wear different shoes? To switch it up of course.

In this day and age shoes/sneakers are a necessity. Weaves/wigs are not.

Lol, being tough on the wigs. 

Lol. a little. Again I'm speaking for tha mass. It varies per individual.

Dont just transition, Transcend.

Transitioning is a part of life. It’s a phase we all hope to complete gracefully, and how we progress from one phase to another is just as important. For some the Big Chop is way too drastic and inconceivable. What ever your reasons are weather it doesn’t fit you or cold turkey is not your style, have a plan. Here are a few tips in transitioning 101
I have a friend who has completed her full transition. Happy days, right? Not so much. During her transition she was faithful to blending both textures with heat straightening. Her complaints: Some to nearly all curl pattern is gone. Even heat achieved curling one side doesn’t hold curl.

1.Stay away from Extreme heat it kills all flourishing things.

a. Bacteria
b. Food
c. Hair!   

In order to reduce breakage at the line of demarcation (the weakest point of hair where new growth and processed hair meet) try braids, full weaves, braid outs, twists, and rollers instead. Keep excessive manipulation to a low.

2. Take care of your new growth as if you've already done the BC. Wash deep condition and moisturize with healthy products. Hot oils treatments and leave in conditioners go a long way for both textures. Go ahead and begin a faithful regimen it will prepare you for becoming totally natural. One of the most important keys in hair growth is a good regimen.

3. Trim away split ends. Split ends can not be saved. Don’t listen to those commercial that show you some kind of bonding method with a miracle product. Once split ends will travel up the healthy hair shaft until completely broken off leaving a weakened damaged end. Schedule a trim every six weeks. Some split ends you need a microscope to see so don’t take the risk of damage.

4. Protect your hair while sleeping. Become acquainted a silk or satin scarf, bonnet, or pillow. They retain moisture and protect your natural hair from breakage on rough polyester and other materials.

These four tips will take you from just plan ole transitioning to transcending gracefully into your next phase of healthy luxurious natural hair. Good luck and Welcome!
