Inside Out Beauty

Don't consider this cheating. When I said I would feature fellow naturals I meet out  in public, I didn't mean I would be lazy enough to scan Whole Foods. Besides I think people who care about what goes inside should have just as much attention as those who do on the outside.

Meet..... I forgot to ask for her name. Sorry, I just got wrapped up into your hair. Forgive me.. If your reading go ahead and leave your name in a comment or you can continue to be our Anonymous Bombshell.

Me: What's a tip you would like to share with other naturals about our hair care?

AB:  (laughs) Ugh I hate to sound redundant but... Moisturize. it is so important.

Me: What do you use for your dreads?

AB: I use a lot of oils like Jojoba, Olive oil, things like that.

Anonymous Bombshell and I then swapped dry hair stories.Dry hair and skin problems since moving to Hotlanta, Georgia. I whipped off my beanie, with a flower on it, to show her just what I was talking about Lol!

We chopped it up on the subject of how the good things we put inside our bodies will definitely echo on the outside. So I made a pledge to drink more water for experimental purposes. It couldn't hurt right? Ill keep you guys posted. In the mean time I'll moisturize and keep a spray bottle of water mixed with Olive Oil and  Aloe Vera juice handy so my hair doesn't emulate a tumble weed.

I will like to thank Anonymous Bombshell for her time and redundant but extremely important tip. We can't stress the vitality of moisturizing our tresses enough. It prevents breakage and aids in retention which promotes growth. And who doesn't want that? Until next time.

All Things O'Natural: The Natural Hair Lingo: Terminology Glossary

All Things O'Natural: The Natural Hair Lingo: Terminology Glossary: Hola Chicas/Chicos..I pray all is well with everyone. Well, finally, after many many requests, I am presenting the Natural Hair Termin...

Nature is its own Love Story

My home girl Wakeela and I were amazed by the simplistic beauty of nature. You don't need to stop by a rose bush to appreciate the small things.

Later she stopped by the same spot to ruin it, LOL She wasn't the culprit but I still consider her an accessory.  We still find the beauty in this love story.

TWA : Mock bun (Hair Style)

TWAs endure an endless battle of fighting boredom. Waiting for your hair to grow is literally like watching paint dry. Lets delegate a certain group to handle that task, in the meantime we can reinvent the TWA. For those who are not familiar with TWA, no it's not airline related. TWA stand for Teeny Weeny Afro. After a while of embracing this young crop of hair things tend to get a little redundant, So here is my new way of putting some pizazz back into the Teeny Weeny Afro.

Purchased them from the dollar store
Things  you'll need:
Decorative flowers
Hair pins
No pull elastics
Water
Gel
Hair oil (optional)

You'll find flowers in hair stores and arts and craft shops
First thing I did was wet my hair then used Eco Styler gel. After styling to desired curl I sectioned off the back of my hair into three puffs using my no pull elastic bands. Pull the puffs as high as you comfortable can. Try using a twisting method if all your curls don't want to fit in.
Now take one decorative flower pining it securely to one of your puffs. Anchor each flower with hair pin using puff as a foundation.
Get creative I styled mine in a circular motion to give off the effect of a bun. The second time I imitated a crown effect. The more flowers the better. You can pin them all over the back of your hair even some on one side.
Use small or big flowers, whatever comes together. Bigger flowers for  a bold presence and smaller ones for a romantic feel.  I like to put a part in my TWA for  a more defined stylish appeal.

 Tips:
  • You can achieve the crown effect by pining flowers high in arch movement stopping at each ear.
  •  Rubbing hair with hair oil while wet will give your curls a gloss when dried.

Play with color, fabric, and texture

                                                                                                                           Have fun looking good!

Nivea posts what they think about black people.

The title of the ad says re-civilize yourself but it might as well had said " Nivea posts what they think about black people." the way some have been acting.
I think the ad is funny but many have their panties in a wad. I step back and say, my people does everything have to be a racist battle? If they would have put a white man with long shaggy hair would the word racism have popped in your head? Probably not.
Nivea pulls the ad issuing a public apology via Facebook.

“Thank you for caring enough to give us your feedback about the recent ‘Re-civilized’ NIVEA FOR MEN ad. This ad was inappropriate and offensive. It was never our intention to offend anyone, and for this we are deeply sorry. This ad will never be used again. Diversity and equal opportunity are crucial values of our company.”

I don’t think the ad is saying that having an afro is uncivilized. To be honest with you the ad could say alot but Racism is not one of the words for me. What do you think?

Twas blind but now I see

Remember having your eye on something particular, maybe a new car?  It seemed everywhere you went this wonderful thing captivating your desires would be. First you'll see it once or maybe twice, then more and more, often.
Well, this exactly what’s been happening to me. Everywhere I go I see Ringlet bombshells! So much I’m wondering if I’m part of a silent movement.

It's astonishing! I’m wondering where they all can from. Why hadn’t I noticed all these beauties before? After a long thought I admitted to myself that when I saw a natural my brain would register, undone. Like not finished. If the person I saw didn’t have a perm or straightened hair, the hair was considered unworthy or admiration. What a horrible unconscious thought.
But Twas blind and now I see. I unbiasedly see all the beauty of different textures and style. I’m so excited I’ve decided to ask and post pictures of these bombshells of every age, gender, and fashion. I will be sharing their pic and asking for a natural beauty tip.

A Ringlet Butterfly

Hello all welcome to my Blog. I'm on my Bombshell kick. The name was referenced to me by my Cousin who is a natural bombshell herself. Never mind the fact that she has home grown silky hair.Natural is natural and I learned that you have to love and work with what you've got. Time had erased my memory of exactly what I have naturally but it wasn't this.

(Love this pic by the way.)

I went natural before this for two years! Even though its a distant memory, I loved the progress of my beautiful thick hair and I promised reverting back to the creamy crack had nothing to do with the pressure to be straight. The culprit was my naps! The dreaded word naps. Nobody wants to be called a nappy headed anything. Right, Don Imus?

So, we go extreme to prove were not so nappy

 .
Full Weave
Sometimes it works for us. Sometimes it doesn't.
What in the world...?
Yes, my naps were friend and foe. How could something so beautiful seem so evil?
I hide my naps under wigs and weaves because I was lost. I battled dryness, breakage, and just plain ole bird in the bush. That's when you find things in your fro which shouldn't be there and you have no idea how they wound up tangled in your tresses. So eventually I said F#*k that and reached for the creamy crack.

I was in heaven :-) ..... until forgotten demons reappeared. Split ends, two textures, and Kyrptonite... I mean water. I figured out my naps weren't evil but I was evil to my naps.
Now I'm older and more educated on my naturalness I can rock my naptural hair with pride and health. Water is my best friend and the bird in the bush stays outside my window as I rock a sheik flower in my fro,

Thanks to Natural Chica and Naptural85 (just a couple of the other Ringlet Bombshells) I can be that Natural Ringlet Bombshell I'm intended to and oh so happy being.
